SOPHIA PARKWAY EXTENSION COMPLETED

     Providing a convenient thorough-fare between Green Valley Road and East Natoma Parkway, Broadstone Parkway, Iron Point Road and the future Highway 50 interchange, the Sophia Parkway extension to Empire Ranch Road was opened with a ribbon-cutting celebration in February. El Dorado County and City of Folsom officials joined for the ceremony that concluded with Folsom Mayor Steve Miklos and El Dorado County Supervisor Rusty Dupray climbing ladders extended from fire engines to shake hands over the county line.
     “This project is a mutual benefit for the communities of El Dorado Hills and Folsom” says Mike McDougall, of MJM Properties, the project developer of The Promontory. “It’s also a good example of how different entities from both the public and private sectors can work together to accomplish a goal. Residents of The Promontory and other areas of El Dorado Hills have been looking forward to this road extension for some time.”
      Partners in the successful completion of the project include:
  • The developers of  The Promontory and Empire Ranch Communities;
  • County of El Dorado: Oversight of design and construction by the Department of Transportation; reimbursement of costs from Mello Roos Fees for project development, right-of-way and construction;
  • City of Folsom: Oversight of design and construction
